[NOTE: This site is still very much under construction. You can read my totally constructed science blog Sapien Games here.]
Hi,
My name is Nick Horton, and I’m a schizo. My life is dominated by three largely unrelated areas: Music, Math, and Muscle — these are my daemons. This site is like the Deep Space Nine station – it’s a jumping off point to other areas of interest more particular to one of my three daemons.
Muscle
I’m a professional strength coach, competitive Olympic weightlifter, and highland games thrower. I’ve been writing a strength and fitness blog for a ton of years now that is chock full of free info, so make sure you check that out. And of course, if you live in the Portland area and need a strength coach, hit up my coaching website.

Math
I’m a graduate student in Mathematics at Portland State University. My areas of study are in Mathematical Biology, Evolutionary Game Theory, and the Biology of Human Interaction. I write a blog focused on evolution and the science (and philosophy) of human behavior – especially as they relate to politics and political theory. I also am the cohost of the popular mathematics podcast, Math for Primates, with Tom Henderson.

Music
Before I got all wrapped up in mathematics and muscle, my first love was music. My first major in college was in Music; though, while at that time I studied classical guitar, I have since switched to soul and R&B. You can download (for free) all of my Albums.

So, ya, I’m clearly a busy guy. But, I’m busy doing the things I really love. How many people get to say that?
Finally, a picture of me practicing what I preach: lift heavy stuff – often!
